How to Connect Busy Tag 2 to Your Phone or Computer

Busy Tag 2 connects two different ways depending on which device you’re using. The computer app talks to Busy Tag over a direct USB cable. The mobile app talks to it over WiFi. This guide covers both, with the mobile setup explained step by step.
Connecting to a Computer
Install the Busy Tag app on Windows or macOS, then plug your Busy Tag 2 into your computer with a USB-C cable. The app detects the device automatically, and you're ready to use it.
Connecting to Your Phone
The mobile app, available on Android and iOS, doesn't use a cable. It connects over WiFi instead, so a few extra steps are involved the first time you set it up.
- Install the Busy Tag app on your phone from the App Store or Google Play.
- Power your Busy Tag 2. Connect it to a power source. A QR code appears on the display.
- Open the app and tap "Add device."
- Tap "Scan Device QR Code," then scan the code shown on your Busy Tag. If the app asks for camera permission, allow it. Without that permission, the scan won't work.
- Choose your WiFi network when prompted to join the device. Your phone doesn't need to be connected to the same network for this step to work.
- Connect to that WiFi network and allow the device to join it.
- Wait for the window to close. Once it does, your Busy Tag 2 is connected to WiFi.
To confirm the connection worked, tap the three lines in the top left corner of the app. You should see your Busy Tag listed along with a WiFi icon next to it, confirming the two are linked.
If the Connection Fails
Sometimes the WiFi handshake doesn't go through on the first try. If your device doesn't connect, start the process again from step 3 and scan the QR code once more.
